For US Citizens who need health insurance coverage inside the USA we have 2 main plan options available to you, and the best plan for you will depend on a few main criteria. Firstly, if you are student then we have the Student Select plan which provides health insurance benefits for students under the age of 30. If you just need short term, or stop gap insurance, then we have the Student STM and for those needing more longer term annual coverage with better benefits please consider the Global Citizen plan.

Which plan is best for me?

Working out which plan is best for you will depend on a few things and this section should give you some guidance in terms of picking the right plan.

• Student enrolled at school that needs coverage
  If you are student that is enrolled in school and needs long term coverage, i.e. for over 12 months, then you should either consider the Student Select or the Global Citizen. The Student Select is a student specific policy (meaning that only students can obtain this) however the Global Citizen (which is available to anyone) is also available to you and will provide better benefits and thus the premiums will be higher.


• Student that needs short term insurance
  If you need short term coverage (generally under 6 months) to fill an "insurance gap" then the Student Short Term Medical is your best option and will provide short term benefits. This plan is ideal for those who are finishing school and need coverage while they look for job, or you can come back to the USA from studying abroad and need something to fill the gap, etc..

Obviously a question most students will have is why do I need student health insurance, and the easiest and quickest answer is do you want to risk being handed a very large bill if you do fall ill. We can never predict when we may get sick or injured, even if you have never been sick before - you could fall ill and need to seek medical treatment and when this happens you want an insurance plan in place to save you money!
